Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim admitted that his side struggled against Kamaldeen Sulemana despite their 3-1 victory over Southampton.

Sulemana seemed to have rediscovered his form, starring for the Saints as a late Amad Diallo hat-trick sank Southampton at Old Trafford.

The former Stade Rennais star played with full intensity against the Red Devils, marking his first Premier League appearance of the season.

“A very difficult game. They did a very good job, Southampton, creating spaces between the lines. Their number 20 [Sulemana] had a lot of space behind, and we had a hard time stopping that player,” Amorim said after the game.

The Saints, who have had a challenging season since their return to the Premier League, broke the deadlock two minutes before half-time when Manuel Ugarte scored an own goal.

Despite holding off the Red Devils for most of the match, Southampton collapsed in the final eight minutes, as Ivorian winger Amad Diallo netted a quick-fire hat-trick.

His first came in the 82nd minute before giving his side the lead in the 90th minute. Diallo then sealed his hat-trick two minutes later, as the Red Devils returned to winning ways in the Premier League.
