In a bid to give back to society and improve access to potable water, The C-Quansah Foundation, led by Lawyer Charles Quansah, has donated a borehole each to Gyegyeano and Brofoyadur communities in Cape Coast.

The commissioning and donation ceremony, held on Saturday, 2nd August 2025, first at Gyegyeano and subsequently at Brofoyedur, aimed at enhancing access to clean potable water for the two communities.

Speaking to journalists after the donation exercise, Lawyer Charles Quansah underscored the challenges the communities face in accessing potable water, emphasizing that as native inhabitants of the two communities, they felt a sense of responsibility to give back and alleviate the burden of inadequate access to safe drinking water. “Giving back to society and mitigating the burden on our mothers, sisters, fathers, and brothers in their daily struggle of transporting water in gallons and buckets. This is a relief mechanism we aim to provide,” he stated.

Lawyer Quansah emphasized that the two communities have been deprived of potable water for decades, stressing that as a humanitarian organization with its core members being indigenes of these communities, it was their responsibility to give back to the communities that have helped shape their character. “We consider it fitting to give back to the societies that have contributed to our personal growth. It is essential to highlight that if we do not take the necessary steps to help ourselves, assistance will not come from elsewhere. Charity, as the saying goes, begins at home,” he emphasized.

Providing answers as to how the foundation intends to maintain the facilities to serve its purpose in the long term, Lawyer Quansah shared that though it’s a free donation to the communities, patronage of the water is at a discounted price. The rationale is for the managers of the electric-powered boreholes to utilize such funds for maintenance purposes.

Some elated community members who spoke to the journalist expressed their sincere appreciation to The C-Quansah Foundation for its benevolent act, wishing them God’s blessings, progress, and growth of the foundation to provide additional social support.

Other founding directors and members of The C-Quansah Foundation who were present at the donation ceremony were Mr. John Graham Wilberforce and Mr. Ernest Amaquandoh.

The C-Quansah Foundation’s kind gesture is very welcoming and worth commending. The two communities are elated with the opportunity of having access to safe drinking water, but whether they will be able to maintain the borehole to serve the respective communities in the future remains to be seen.
