Former Morocco head coach Walid Regragui has distanced himself from the vacant Black Stars coaching role, sources have confirmed.

The Ghana Football Association is currently searching for a new manager following the dismissal of Otto Addo on March 31. The decision came after Ghana’s disappointing results during the March international window, including a heavy defeat to Austria and a narrow loss to Germany in pre-World Cup friendlies.

Despite earlier reports suggesting that the GFA had made contact with Regragui, sources indicate that the highly-rated tactician has no interest in the position. The 48-year-old, who led Morocco to a historic semi-final finish at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, is believed to have communicated his decision through his representatives.

Regragui is reportedly in line to succeed Hervé Renard, who recently stepped down as head coach of Saudi Arabia.

Other names linked to the Ghana job include Kwesi Appiah, Pitso Mosimane and Tom Saintfiet.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars will regroup for final warm-up matches against Mexico and Wales ahead of the FIFA World Cup, where they face England, Croatia and Panama in Group L.
