Award-winning gospel musician Celestine Donkor has asserted that her name cannot be excluded from any list of the top ten artistes in Ghana, citing her longevity and impact in the music industry.

Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM on February 22, 2026, Celestine Donkor reflected on her 20-year journey in the music industry and the sacrifices she has had to make along the way.

According to her, she once ventured into the food business but had to shut it down due to the demanding nature of her music career.

“I started a restaurant and it was going well, but I stopped because of time. Sometimes music will take me out of the country and by the time I come back, my business will be in shambles.

“I had to stop it because the money we put in that restaurant was too much. The thing is, you can’t force people to help you hold your business down. The time and resources always go into the music,” she said.

The gospel artiste noted that despite the challenges, she remains grateful for her relevance after two decades in the industry.

“It gladdens my heart that after 20 years, I’m still here and relevant. Not to say I’m singing my own praises, but we can’t talk of top ten artistes in Ghana without my name. that will be very unfair to me,” she stated.

Celestine Donkor further emphasised that her success goes beyond fame, highlighting the spiritual impact of her music on listeners.

“I think to be in this industry for 20 years and still be relevant is a great blessing. It’s not just being famous; it’s about the impact you put on people. People are getting blessed, people still want the songs I release, they pray and worship with it and it’s a great blessing,” she added.
