Mubarak Yakubu, the personal assistant to popular media broadcaster Kofi Adomah, has provided an update on the journalist’s condition following a tragic accident that left him with severe eye injuries.

It would be recalled that while on assignment at a funeral in Dormaa, Bono Region, Kofi Adomah was hit by gunpowder discharge from musketry being fired at the event.

The incident caused intense damage to his eyes, leaving him in a critical condition.

He was initially rushed to Dubai for emergency treatment and has since been transferred to the United Kingdom for further care.

Speaking in an interview with Peace FM’s Kwasi Aboagye, Yakubu shared key details about Adomah’s treatment and the ongoing efforts to raise funds for his recovery.

He disclosed that Kofi Adomah is now in the UK, where he is receiving treatment for his left eye.

“He was rushed to Dubai when it was an emergency; his right eye was treated there. Now that he has been stabilized, he has been moved to the UK, where we hope to treat his left eye,” he said.

Earlier, reports emerged that popular business mogul Ibrahim Mahama had donated a sum of $115,000 to aid in Kofi Adomah’s treatment.

However, the PA said he contacted Adomah’s wife for confirmation, and she said she is yet to receive such an amount.

He, however, expressed hope that the promised support from Ibrahim Mahama would materialize soon, stating, “When I saw the news going viral, I contacted the wife and sent her the flyer of the report. But she said that she hadn’t seen anything yet. I don’t know if he has made processes for the money to be sent, and it hasn’t arrived yet. But the last time I checked, it hadn’t come. I’m hoping that when next I check, the money will have arrived,” he said.

He added that the CEO of Angel Broadcasting Network, Kwaku Oteng, has also donated GH¢10,000 to support the cause.

According to the PA, Kofi Adomah requires over $50,000 for his eye treatment.
