Scores of market women in Accra have declared their support for Vice President and Presidential Candidate of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Bawumia, as part of his nationwide campaign, stormed popular markets in Accra on a rainy Tuesday morning, and he received a tumultuous reception from enthusiastic traders across all markets he visited.

The NPP Flagbearer, who has been touring markets across the country, as part of his campaign, visited the Tuesday Market at Mamprobi, the Makola Market, Okaishie and Kantamanto, in a tour which, once again, established the increasing popularity of Dr. Bawumia.

Traders, mainly women, showed Dr. Bawumia open affection; hugging, embracing, taking selfies and singing his praises, amidst chants of his ‘it is possible’ slogan.

A number of the market women who spoke to the media during the tour, declared their unflinching support for Bawumia, insisting that he is the one they trust to take Ghana forward.

“We are moving forward with Bawumia, so I will vote for him,” a trader declared enthusiastically.

“There is no doubt about it. Bawumia is the one I like and he is the one I will vote for because we cannot go back. We saw the past and we have seen all the progress now,” another stated.

At the markets, it was quite obvious that the NPP’s Free SHS policy is deeply appreciated by the traders, as it became the most common reference point by the traders.

For many of them, the policy is so impactful and so crucial that it cannot be risked into the hands of someone who did not believe in it.

“Free SHS has been a saviour for us and our children. We want it to continue and it can only be safe in the hands of Bawumia, who believes in it, not someone who said Ghana did not need it,” another trader at the Makola market said.

“Three of my children and two of my brother’s children have attended Free SHS for free. That is five children and I should not vote for the NPP and Bawumia?” another trader asked.

Once again, Dr. Bawumia showed remarkable determination, as he walked through the rains to engage a number of traders, who expressed both appreciation and admiration for him.
