Partey celebrating his goal against Brentford

Thomas Partey scored his fourth goal of the 2024/25 Premier League season with a well-taken shot to put Arsenal 1-0 ahead against Brentford.

With a crucial second-leg tie against Real Madrid on the horizon, Arteta made significant changes to his team.

However, Partey retained his spot, playing as a right-back.

These changes resulted in a sluggish start to the game, with little quality on display.

It wasn’t until the 20th minute that the first shot on target arrived, with Kristoffer Ajer testing David Raya after being slipped into the box by Bryan Mbeumo.

Just after the hour mark, however, Partey capped off a swift counter-attack that started with David Raya rolling the ball to Declan Rice.

Rice surged forward from deep before setting up Partey, who smashed in the opener.

The midfielder has now contributed to six goals in 30 Premier League games this season, scoring four and providing two assists.

He is also on course to equal his best scoring season, having netted five league goals while at Mallorca during the 2013/14 campaign.
