Ghanaian dancehall musician, Stonebwoy

Ghanaian dancehall musician, Livingstone Etse Satekla, popularly known as Stonebwoy, has rained a series of praises on some past and present African leaders.

While delivering his stage performance at his just-ended HoodTalk Festival on May 9, 2025, at the Black Star Square, Stonebwoy paused to give several accolades to leaders such as Kwame Nkrumah, Burkina Faso’s Captain Ibrahim Traoré, Muammar Gaddafi, among other leaders for their leadership.

He praised them for their exceptional leadership and for liberating Africans from colonial leadership and mental slavery.

“Standing inside the Black Star Square, we have to know why we are here. We have to know why this light is red, gold, and green. This is where Kwame Nkrumah made that speech in 1957 where he said Ghana is free forever.

“He said the freedom of Ghana is meaningless unless it is connected to the freedom of Africa. Big up to the president of Burkina Faso for liberating Burkina Faso. Big up Traoré, Big up Muammar Gaddafi, Big Up JJ Rawlings, Kwame Nkrumah, Thomas Sankara, and all other African leaders and legends who gave us peace,” he said.

He further called for Africans to rise against mental slavery and oppressions from the West.

“As we are here today at the Independence Square, looking at these edifices built by Kwame Nkrumah… It shows the youth of Africa are rising right now. We have to believe and rise in the African spirit,” he added.
