Former Black Stars captain, Stephen Appiah, was stunned by Declan Rice’s second freekick goal in Arsenal’s emphatic win over Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.

In a video sighted by GhanaWeb, Appiah was seen with his mouth wide open in shock after the English midfielder curled a sensational strike into the far corner.

Declan Rice scored two high-quality freekicks, as Arsenal defeated the reigning champions 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium.

He has now set a record as the first player to score two direct free-kicks in a Champions League knockout game.

Rice also becomes the only fifth player to score two freekicks in a single Champions League match, joining Rivaldo, Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, and Hakim Ziyech.

The return leg is scheduled for Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at the Santiago Bernabéu.
