The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, was visibly shaken after receiving news of the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight individuals, including the Minister of Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, and the Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.

The incident occurred on August 6, 2025.

Armah-Kofi Buah was already seated at the launch of the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOMSDEP).

The event was held at Black Park, near the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium in the Ashanti Region. Ironically, the two late ministers were en route to this very event as special guests.

During the programme, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, and other dignitaries were captured observing the national anthem while awaiting the arrival of the two ministers.

Unbeknownst to many at the venue, news of the crash had already broken.

Dr Amoakohene, who appeared to have already received the news, waited until after the national anthem before quietly approaching Armah-Kofi Buah.

He was then seen whispering the tragic news to the lands minister.

Video footage showed a visibly awestruck Armah-Kofi Buah, his body jolted, mouth agape in shock.

He appeared confused and shaken by the revelation.

Moments later, he was seen pulling out his phone, seemingly to verify the tragic news for himself.

The crash of the Z9 helicopter, which belonged to the Ghana Armed Forces, also claimed the lives of Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna; former Central Regional Minister, Samuel Sarpong; and Samuel Aboagye, a former parliamentary candidate.

Members of the helicopter’s crew are Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Malin Twum-Ampadu, and Sgt. Ernest Addo Mensah.
