Kofi Agbesimah collapsed after a collision Kofi Agbesimah collapsed after a collision

Samartex captain, Kofi Agbesimah is recovering after a frightening collision with his own goalkeeper left him unconscious during their MTN FA Cup Round of 16 clash against Medeama SC on Saturday, February 9, 2026.

The incident occurred in the first half of a fiercely contested encounter, when Agbesimah and his goalkeeper clashed while attempting to deal with a dangerous ball inside the box.

The impact was severe, sending immediate concern across the pitch as the skipper lay motionless on the turf.

Medical staff rushed onto the field, and after several anxious moments, Agbesimah was stretchered off and transported to the hospital for further examination.

The match resumed under a cloud of worry from both sets of players and supporters.

Samartex later confirmed that the defender had suffered a concussion but is now stable and responding positively to treatment under close medical supervision.

The game eventually ended dramatically, with Medeama securing a 4-2 victory on penalties to progress to the next round of the competition.

While the result saw Samartex exit the FA Cup, the primary concern remained the health of their captain.

Thankfully, early updates indicated Agbesimah is on the path to recovery after a terrifying moment on the pitch.
