Fred Kerley, sprinter for the USA

US Olympic sprinter Fred Kerley, 29, was arrested and tasered by Miami police on Thursday evening.

Kerley, who won a bronze medal in the 100m at the Paris Games, is facing charges of battery, resisting arrest, and breach of peace.

According to police, Kerley approached officers with an “aggressive demeanor” while they were investigating another incident, expressing concern about his vehicle.

Despite the officers’ efforts to de-escalate the situation, Kerley allegedly resisted arrest, using evasive movements to avoid being subdued.

He was eventually wrestled to the ground by four officers.

Cleo Rahman, 32, Kerley’s girlfriend and a national DJ known as DJ Sky High Baby, was also charged with resisting an officer without violence.

The arrest report indicated that Rahman’s actions required several officers to divert their attention from Kerley’s arrest to deal with her.

Fred Kerley boasts an impressive Olympic record.

At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics (held in 2021), he secured a silver medal in the 100 meters.

In the 2024 Paris Olympics, Kerley earned bronze, clocking an impressive 9.81 seconds in the 100 meters, narrowly trailing fellow American Noah Lyles and Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson in a thrilling photo finish.
