Ghana’s 2020 Olympic Games medalist, Samuel Takyi, recorded a technical knockout win over Emmanuel Quartey in a Street 2 Champions tournament on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Center Point Mall in Accra, Ghana.
Samuel Takyi, known as “The Ring Warrior,” stopped Quartey in round two to claim the victory that marked his return to professional boxing since the African Games in March.
The Ring Warrior had a strong start, giving Qaurtey no room to find his feet. Takyi lifted the intensity, landing some decent punches in the second round, where Quartey bowed out.
Quartey did not return to the ring after the second round following an assessment by his corner as Takyi was handed the TKO win.
The victory takes Takyi’s professional record to 5 wins out of 5 bouts. In contrast, Qaurtey recorded his 16th career loss in 43 bouts, winning 26 and drawing one.
The Street 2 Champions, organised by Ace Power Promotion, featured many amateur boxers participating in three events, starting from the round of 16 for each weight division.
The tournament aimed at giving young street boxers a shot at their dream of becoming professional boxers.
