Óscar Ustari saving the penalty kick

The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup kicked off dramatically at the Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday, June 15, 2025, as Inter Miami and Al Ahly played out an intense 0-0 draw in Group A.

It was a night of missed chances, incredible saves, and end-to-end football.

While fans came hoping to see Lionel Messi light up the tournament, it was Inter Miami’s Óscar Ustari who stole the spotlight in the first half, producing a string of superb saves to deny Wessam Abou Ali, Emam Ashour, and Achraf Dari.

His finest moment came just before halftime, saving Trézéguet’s penalty and the follow-up in a stunning double stop that kept his side in the game.

Al Ahly dominated the first half with wave after wave of counterattacks, and could have gone ahead if not for heroic defending and Ustari’s brilliance.

But Inter Miami responded after the break. Tadeo Allende came close from six yards, only to be denied by Mohamed El Shenawy, who then produced the moment of the match, tipping Messi’s curling effort onto the crossbar in the dying minutes.

Despite the heat and fatigue setting in late on, both sides pushed for a winner, but the final whistle confirmed a goalless draw that leaves Group A wide open, with Palmeiras and Porto still to come.
