Hearts of Oak soared into the upper half of the Ghana Premier League table with a thrilling 2-0 victory over Medeama SC on Friday night.
This commanding performance at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa marked Week 9 of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season, where the Phobians showcased resilience and strategic precision to earn the win.
Facing off under the lights against Medeama’s “Yellow and Mauve” lineup, Hearts of Oak aimed to close the gap on their competitors with a much-needed three points. Both teams demonstrated strong tactical setups from the first whistle, each seeking to secure control of the game.
Despite intense exchanges in the first half, neither side managed to break through, with each team’s defence standing firm to maintain a goalless draw at halftime. The Phobians finally seized their chance in the 63rd minute when forward Kwabena Boateng capitalized on a well-crafted play to net the first goal of the match. This strike shifted momentum toward Hearts, and Medeama found themselves struggling to respond.
Mawuli Wayo doubled Hearts’ lead in the 87th minute, delivering the final blow that sealed Medeama’s fate and secured all three points for the visiting side.
