Stephen king Amoah’s funeral was held in Kumasi

The funeral of the late Ghana Immigration Service officer, Stephen King Amoah, popularly known as Otumfuo Nana, was marked by emotional scenes of grief and mourning as family, friends, and sympathizers gathered to bid him farewell on Sunday, September 21, 2025.

Videos from the funeral held in Kumasi showed the mother, widow, children, and scores of sympathizers of the deceased wailing uncontrollably.

“Bright, you’ve caused me pain,” the mother of the deceased cried out in one of the videos.

Otumfuo Nana was brutally murdered in a case that is currently under investigation.

The 38-year-old went missing on July 3 after leaving his home in Ashongman Estate, Accra, to meet a friend, Bright Aweh, regarding a GH¢200,000 debt.

His charred remains were discovered six days later, on July 9, in a gutter near the GBC Satellite, opposite Comet Estate at Abuom Junction, near Kwabenya.

Bright Aweh, a known friend of the deceased, identified as the last person in contact with Amoah, was arrested on July 10, along with a second suspect, Thomas Zigah (alias Nii Jaase), after inconsistencies in Aweh’s statements emerged.

The Ghana Police Service has since recovered an alleged weapon and other incriminating evidence in the course of their ongoing investigations.
