Hearts of Oak’s Benjamin Asare was made to perform the Black Stars‘ traditional initiation dance which is reserved for new members of the team.
Asare was made to dance as part of his official induction into the squad as a Black Stars player.
The Black Stars‘ initiation custom typically requires a new player to introduce himself briefly and entertain his teammates and officials with a dance.
In that regard, Asare took centre stage and showcased his dancing skills while the rest of the squad cheered him on. From the chants, it appears he is nicknamed “SM,” an abbreviation for Shatta Movement, the fan base of Ghanaian Dancehall superstar Shatta Wale.
The 32-year-old embraced the moment as he continued bonding with the squad in his first Black Stars experience.
Benjamin Asare is one of three debutants named in the squad and one of three locally-based players.
Ghana will host Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, before travelling to Morocco to face Madagascar on Monday, March 24.
