NAIMOS Taskforce has carried out a surprise dawn operation at the notorious “Yellow Face” galamsey site at Wassa Abrehyia in the Western Region, forcing illegal miners to flee upon their arrival.

The swift raid, conducted without prior notice, left dozens of miners abandoning the site and scattering into nearby bushes, a scene captured in a viral video circulating on social media.

When the team reached the area, they discovered makeshift camps, mining tools, suspected illicit drugs, and sticks of dynamite believed to be used for the unlawful operations.

All items found were destroyed on-site as part of the taskforce’s immediate enforcement measures.

This latest raid forms part of heightened efforts by NAIMOS to clamp down on illegal mining hotspots across the Western Region.
