Ransford’s mum was seen in the video crying for justice

In a heartbreaking video circulating online, the mother of 16-year-old footballer Ransford Owusu Ansah is seen in tears, crying out for justice for her late son.

The tragic story of 16-year-old footballer Ransford Owusu Ansah, who was allegedly sexually abused by his coach Ibrahim Anyass at Siano Football Academy in Amasaman, has sparked a wave of national outrage.

According to reports, Ransford’s ordeal began at the academy, where he was allegedly subjected to repeated sexual abuse by his coach.

His health began to deteriorate over time, and his mother said he became withdrawn and sickly before finally revealing what had happened to him.

He was later hospitalised at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and sadly passed away in March 2025 after slipping into a coma.

Despite the gravity of the allegations, sources say Coach Anyass remained free and continued working with children for months after the boy’s death.

As such, in the video, Ransford’s mother is seen expressing her anguish and frustration at the system’s failure to deliver justice for her son.

“Leaders of Ghana, after I reported that the coach had sodomized my son, the government couldn’t help me get justice till he died. So, Ghanaians, I’m putting GH¢5000 on the line that anyone who gets him for me should come for it,” she said with tears.

Her emotional plea has dominated social media trends in Ghana, with thousands of users expressing anger, heartbreak, and disbelief over the details emerging from the case.
