A quartet of former Ghanaian players Anthony Baffoe, Yussif Chibsah, Ibrahim Tanko, and Thomas Duah have paid tribute to their former colleague, Michael Osei, who passed away in November 2024.

In a video shared on the Inside PFAG YouTube channel, they reflected on Osei’s personality, the brief break he took from football, and the circumstances surrounding his unfortunate passing.

Anthony Yeboah recounted his first encounter with Michael Osei, mentioning that Osei had lived with him in Germany during his first visit to the country for trials.

Discussions about Osei’s playing career led to the revelation that Thomas Duah and Samuel Osei Kuffour both played for the same Colts team, Fantomas FC, in the Ashanti Region.

Regarding the cause of death, Tanko shed light on the passing of the former Asante Kotoko coach, revealing that Osei succumbed to heart complications.

He confirmed that Michael Osei had a history of heart problems and had undergone surgery, though he was uncertain about the exact location of the procedure.

“I think his passing was related to his heart. Yes, he had surgery. I believe it was in London,” Tanko stated.

“I spoke with him while he was in Germany. He went to London before arriving in Germany, so I’m not sure whether he had the operation in England or Germany.”

Michael Osei, who had taken a break from coaching in 2023, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024, at the age of 53.
