Ghana’s march toward the 2026 FIFA World Cup continued at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, September 1, 2025, where the Black Stars held their first training session ahead of Thursday’s clash with Chad.

Twelve players reported for duty, ten outfield players and two goalkeepers, in a spirited session that signalled the start of a crucial international window.

Antoine Semenyo, Gideon Mensah, Elisha Owusu, and captain Jordan Ayew were among the early arrivals, while goalkeepers Benjamin Asare and Joseph Anang took charge of the posts.

There was also a timely boost for Otto Addo’s side as Kamaldeen Sulemana joined training, shaking off fitness concerns to provide much-needed depth in attack.

His sharp movement drew cheers from the small crowd in attendance, a reminder of what he could offer when the Black Stars step onto the pitch in N’Djamena.

In total, 14 players had checked into camp by Monday afternoon, with the rest, including midfield general Thomas Partey, expected to arrive before the team jets out for Chad.

The atmosphere in camp was calm, but beneath it lay the urgency of a nation that knows qualification margins are razor-thin.

Also watching on was former skipper Stephen Appiah, who shared a moment with captain Jordan Ayew.
