Music producer Kwame Mickey has taken steps to honour the memory of the late gospel musician Bishop Michael Osei Bonsu, whose tombstone has been neglected for years.

In a video shared on Zionfelix’s Instagram page, Kwame Mickey was seen at the cemetery where Bishop Osei Bonsu was buried 18 years ago.

Weeds had completely covered the tombstone, leaving it hidden from sight.

Kwame Mickey, determined to restore dignity to the final resting place of the late gospel singer, cleared the bushes to locate the tombstone to give it a facelift.

Kwame Mickey also paid a courtesy call on Nana Goaso Omanhene, the queen mother of the late singer’s hometown, to share his intention of renovating the tombstone.

The queen mother welcomed the idea and called it as a worthy act of respect to a man whose music touched many lives.

“Coming to do something of this kind is good. If for nothing at all, Michael Osei Bonsu recorded some songs that could have made unbelievers change their mind. So, I cannot turn you down for coming to do this to honor him,” she said.

Bishop Michael Osei Bonsu passed away from cancer at Ridge Hospital in 2007.

His illness became severe in mid-2006, leaving him inactive for months before his death.

He was the founder of the ‘Back to God’ Church in Accra and enjoyed a career that spanned over three decades.

He recorded more than 70 hit songs, many of which is still sang in churches today.
