Victor Kofi Owusu, the family head of the late Ghanaian highlife musician Daddy Lumba, has sparked fresh debate online following the singer’s thanksgiving service held on December 14, 2025.

During the service held in Kumasi, the family head, Kofi Owusu, expressed gratitude to sympathisers and family members for their unwavering support throughout the burial process.

In a video that surfaced online on December 14, 2025, Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu disclosed during the service that he has officially accepted the name “Tupac,” a nickname given to him by netizens.

According to Kofi Owusu, although he initially disliked the name, he later embraced it after careful consideration and encouragement from his newly self-acclaimed supporters. He further revealed that he has now established a fan base known as the “Tupac Movement.”

“We have the men, and they have done a very good job. I want to thank everyone in Kumasi and all sympathisers for their support.

“I heard that you people have changed my name from Victor Owusu to Tupac, so I am hereby changing my name from Victor Owusu to Tupac. When you see me anywhere, feel free to call me Tupac, because we now have the Tupac Movement,” he said.

Meanwhile, despite the controversies surrounding Daddy Lumba’s burial arrangements, the family successfully held the final burial on December 13, 2025.

Daddy Lumba, who passed away on July 26, 2025, at the Bank Hospital, was laid to rest on December 13, 2025, after months of family disputes and legal battles that delayed his burial.
