Ghana’s national Mixed Martial Arts team captain, Daniel Wadieh, is representing the country at the 2026 All Africa Mixed Martial Arts Championship in Angola.

The tournament, organized by the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation, has drawn top fighters from across the continent, with Ghana hopeful of a strong showing through its experienced captain.

President of the Ghana Mixed Martial Arts Federation, Collins Zoiku, expressed confidence in Wadieh’s chances, stating that the Netherlands-based fighter is well-prepared and capable of winning a medal.

Wadieh, who has previously represented Ghana in several international competitions, is coached by Frans Djimtche and assisted by Emirhan Bulduk, both based in the Netherlands where he trains.

Zoiku used the opportunity to call for increased support for Mixed Martial Arts in Ghana, noting that the sport has significant growth potential similar to football and athletics. He added that there are several Ghanaian MMA athletes based in Europe and the United States who could strengthen the national team if given the needed support.

He wished Wadieh success and urged Ghanaians to rally behind him as he seeks to make the nation proud.
