Ghanaian dancehall musician Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has urged Ghanaians, especially the youth, to vote wisely in the upcoming December 7 elections.

In a viral video, Shatta Wale emphasised that young people should vote for a leader who genuinely cares about their welfare and not someone who is self-centred.

“We need to vote for someone who has the country at heart this December 7. But woe unto any of you who vote for someone who doesn’t have the nation’s best interest at heart. If they come into power and ruin our country, I’ll make sure thieves attack such a person. Ghanaians hate the truth. When I was coming here today, I saw so many potholes, yet these MPs move around with motorcades and do nothing. So, you should vote against them,” he stated.

Shatta Wale further urged the youth to stop voting based on party lines and avoid being easily influenced.

“Don’t go to the polls and vote just because of party affiliation. That old 1992 voting mentality should be over because we’ve grown past that.

“If you don’t have a good candidate in mind, wait for the next election. I will run for president one day and give you policies that will improve your lives. Our politicians see you as nothing but junkies and don’t care about offering you a better standard of living,” he added.
