According to a report on Joy news, Miracle Abogye has issued a strong appeal to the government to abandon public relations tactics and take decisive action against illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.

According to Miracle Abogye, Ghana is “in a deep, deep crisis,” and the government’s current strategy of “talking instead of acting” is worsening the situation. He expressed disappointment in what he described as “praise singers” around the President, accusing them of deceiving the nation with false claims of progress.

“The President and the government should stop talking. They should act in a way that gives us results. The entire country is ready to rally behind them. What we don’t want is gaslighting and PR, telling us everything is fine when we know it’s not,” he stressed.

“Stop buying gold from the galamsey operators. You are providing a ready market for them. I thought the Gold Board was supposed to make it harder for illegal gold to be sold, but now gold sales are easier than before,” he noted.

He added that reports of Gold Board agents purchasing gold directly from mining communities only worsen the problem, saying such actions legitimize illegal mining activities.
