Media personality Nana Romeo, now the host of Ekwanso Dwodwo on Okay FM, has boldly declared that no Ghanaian TikToker qualifies to be called a celebrity.
In a recent chat with Zionfelix on the Uncut Show, the outspoken broadcaster did not mince words as he stood firmly behind Onua FM/TV’s Mona Gucci, who recently came under fire for expressing similar sentiments.

Mona Gucci had earlier locked horns with some TikTok personalities after stating that they were not celebrities.
But according to Nana Romeo, the word “celebrity” carries a certain weight and significance that many of these TikTok personalities have not earned.
“They may be popular, yes. They may even be stars in their own right. But the title ‘celebrity’ is a heavy one,” he argued.
The Okay FM drive-time host explained that being a celebrity should not just be about going viral or having followers, but rather about one’s impact, legacy, and the lives they have touched. “A true celebrity should have done something that is truly worth celebrating,” Nana Romeo emphasized.

He further noted that Ghana cannot produce so many celebrities because the criteria for such recognition should be based on influence and contribution to society, not mere internet fame. “If we are being honest, even in the entertainment space, someone like Sarkodie would still struggle to be called a celebrity. But because he has helped sell the image of Ghana through his music, he deserves that status,” Romeo added.
He further emphasized that if there is going to be a honest conversation about the real celebrities in Ghana, then it will be a talk about people like Dr. Osei Kwame Despite and others in his league who have transformed lives, built legacies, and earned national respect.
