On Thursday, July 4, 2025, Evangelist Patricia Asiedua aka Nana Agradaa was sentenced to 15 years in prison and fined on separate charges at the Accra Circuit Court presided by Judge Evelyn Asamoah.

Nana Agradaa faced accusations of promoting a money‑doubling scheme via televised adverts and “all‑night” events at her church Heaven Way Chapel.

Following this conviction, there have been a lot of reactions both on social media and traditional media as to whether or not the jail term was too harsh or not.

Among the numerous reactions, renowned Ghanaian lawyer and a stunch member of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Lawyer Obiri Boahen has waded in to the request of the judge that a pregnancy test be conducted on Nana Agradaa.

Speaking in an interview with Nana Romeo on Okay FM’s Ekwanso Dwoodwoo drive-time show, Lawyer Obiri Boahen questioned why the judge will give such a directive.

He made the point that if the lawyers of Nana Agradaa were not the ones to suggest that she was indeed pregnant, then there no need for the judge to request that such a test be conducted.

He went on to add that if Nana Agradaa was pregnant or not, it does not affect the sentencing given because she has to serve the term unless her lawyers decide to appeal at the High Court if they feel the fifteen years jail term was too much.
