Ghanaian gospel musician Nhyira Betty has opened up about one of the most painful experiences of her life when she decided to marry some years ago.

In a chat with multiple award-winning blogger, Zionfelix on The Uncut Show, the singer disclosed that her former church, the Christ Apostolic Church branch located at Accra New Town, frustrated her plans to such an extent that she was left with no option but to move her wedding to Kumasi with her husband.

According to Nhyira Betty, the entire episode began when she officially announced her intention to marry. Instead of receiving support and encouragement from the church she had served faithfully, she was met with constant opposition and unnecessary restrictions.

The talented gospel singer, who gained widespread recognition in the industry in 2012, though her first album was released back in 2007, said the ordeal left her heartbroken and deeply disappointed in people she once looked up to spiritually.

She revealed that after the church and its leaders made it difficult for her, she still in humility and respect for the church, she decided to return afterward to express her gratitude, however, she got the biggest shock of her life.

Nhyira Betty revealed that upon her return, the leaders of the church made her and her husband stand in front of the congregation, not to celebrate them, but to embarrass them publicly.

The gospel singer said that following that experience, she was left with no choice but to relocate permanently to Kumasi, where she currently resides with her family and continues to pursue her music ministry.
