The controversies surrounding the funeral arrangements of the late highlife legend, Daddy Lumba continues.

The latest twist to this whole brouhaha is some revelations made by renowned traditional medicine practitioner Oheneba Ntim Barimah.

Oheneba Ntim Barimah, speaking as a guest on UTV’s United Showbiz, hosted by Empress Gifty on Saturday, December 6, 2025, disclosed that Daddy Lumba once confided in him that he had been poisoned by some friends he visited in Europe many years ago.

Oheneba recounted that Daddy Lumba told him that the friends he visited served him fufu, which they allegedly laced with a poisonous substance. Shortly after eating, he became critically ill and was rushed to a hospital.

However, according to the revelation, doctors initially refused to attend to him because a scan reportedly suggested he had ingested cocaine, leading them to assume he was involved in drug abuse and therefore did not deserve immediate attention.

He further explained that Lumba survived for nearly two hours without medical intervention, and only after the suspected cocaine-like substance had digested did the doctors decide to finally attend to him.

Oheneba added that the emotional weight of this experience traumatised Lumba deeply. “Anytime Lumba shared this story, he cried,” Oheneba said.

Oheneba Ntim Barimah after making this deep revelation went further to express disappointment over the ongoing disputes, conflicting funeral dates, legal tussles, and public confusion surrounding Daddy Lumba’s final funeral rites.

He explained that understanding what the musician survived should inspire unity rather than division.

He stated that surviving such a deadly poisoning incident was a sign that God truly loved Lumba and kept him alive for a purpose.

He went on to urge the feuding parties, family members, organisers, relatives both home and abroad, and stakeholders to put aside their differences and come together to give the legend a befitting and dignified funeral.
