Renowned Nigerian actor Jim Iyke has broken his silence over Akuapem Poloo’s claim that he angrily walked out of the 2024 Ghana Movie Awards.

Jim Iyke rubbished the assertions during an interview granted on Monday, July 28, 2025, with Nana Romeo on Okay FM.

Addressing the viral statement made by Ghanaian actress and socialite Akuapem Poloo, Jim Iyke made it clear that there was no dramatic exit on his part..

He also mentioned that he didn’t know what Poloo was in the first place to have her speak about his schedule when she has no knowledge of the arrangement he had with the organizers.

The actor went on to explain that his presence at the Ghana Movie Awards, which took place at the Accra International Conference Centre in 2024, was purely out of respect for the event’s founder, Fred Nuamah.

He added that the arrangement had been communicated well in advance, and there was no cause for anyone to assume he left out of frustration.

According to Jim Iyke, he had a business meeting scheduled on the same evening, and arrangements had been made for three cars to pick him up from the venue. “I said I’ll breeze in for an hour or two, then leave once the meeting team arrives,” he clarified.

Interestingly, Jim also revealed that he has not been attending any award events for over five years due to his tight schedules. “I live in Abuja, not Lagos where most of these events happen. I’ve just been too busy for these things,” he said.

His comments come after Akuapem Poloo, in an interview with Zionfelix on January 24, 2025, claimed that Jim Iyke left the event abruptly, possibly due to disappointment in how the show was organized.
