Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu, the head of family of the late highlife icon Daddy Lumba, has reacted swiftly to circulating rumours suggesting that the long-announced funeral, scheduled for December 13, 2025, has been postponed.

In a video message shared online on Monday, December 8, 2025, Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu stated categorically that the general public should disregard any reports claiming that Manhyia Palace has directed a postponement of the funeral.

According to him, such claims are completely false and should not be entertained. He stressed that anyone who suggests that the funeral has been postponed is only trying to throw dust in the eyes of the general public.

He urged Ghanaians not to fall for such misinformation, noting that no such directive has been issued by the Palace or any authority responsible for the late musician’s final rites.

Addressing the events that led to the latest wave of misinformation, Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu explained that he and some family elders had gone to Manhyia Palace with the intention of presenting a drink to Otumfuo as tradition demands.

However, he revealed that upon the King’s arrival, he did not step out of his vehicle, making it impossible for the family to perform the customary presentation.

Despite that, he explained that the chiefs at the Palace instructed him to go ahead and organize the funeral, reminding him that as the Abusuapanyin, the responsibility lies squarely on his shoulders.

With this assurance, he emphasized that nothing has changed about the burial arrangements.

Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu therefore used the opportunity to call on the general public to come out in their numbers on December 13, 2025, to mourn and celebrate the life and legacy of the late Charles Kwadwo Fosu, affectionately known as Daddy Lumba.
