Ghanaian actress Gifty Arthur, popularly known by her stage name Gyimidi, has opened up about a traumatic health battle that temporarily halted her rising career in the movie industry.

Speaking in an interview with renowned vlogger Zionfelix on May 5, 2025 on the Uncut Show, Gyimidi revealed that her abrupt absence from the creative scene was due to a serious medical condition that lasted nearly six months.

“The reason why people didn’t hear from me was because I was battling a sickness for almost six months,” she said.

She also added that: “Some people would ask why I wasn’t acting anymore. I changed drastically. I was having a spine issue, so I couldn’t sit for more than 30 minutes continuously. But by His grace, I am fine now and fully active in the movie industry.”

Prior to this strange illness, she was quickly rising to fame through her skits and roles in various films and skits.

Her unique style and authenticity made her standout in Ghana’s movie and comedy space.

Now fully recovered, Gyimidi says she is back to doing what she loves and is now also enrolled in a pastoral school because she wants to know more about God.
