Popular TikToker Hayford Boateng, known widely on social media as GhKobby, has been remanded into police custody following his appearance in court today in connection with the shocking shooting of his girlfriend, Yaa Baby.

The incident, which occurred on June 10, 2025, in Yeji, has stirred public outrage and intense media coverage nationwide.

According to eyewitness accounts from the court premises, GhKobby was remanded by the Yeji Magistrate Court after the case was called earlier this morning.

Two other young men who were arrested alongside him, that is one popularly known on social media as Obolo, real name Kojo Emmanuel, and Michael Boakye were granted bail and subsequently released.

Shortly after his release, Obolo went live on TikTok, where he personally confirmed his temporary freedom.

In the live session, he acknowledged the reports of his release and said he was grateful to be out “for now,” pending further investigations.

The trio had originally arrived in Yeji on what was believed to be a casual visit. They were traveling with Yaa Baby in an unregistered vehicle, and reports suggest they were warmly welcomed in the home of one of the men, who previously served his national service in the area. The day took a grim turn, however, when one of the young men allegedly returned to their car to retrieve a firearm, which was then reportedly loaded in full view of the others. A single gunshot followed, leaving Yaa Baby dead at the scene.

In the aftermath, chaos erupted as local residents, suspecting ritual motives behind the murder, chased down the trio and reportedly beat them before the police arrived to intervene and effect their arrest.
