Veteran Kumawood actor Daniel Adeleye has finally broken his silence on why he stepped away from acting despite being one of the most recognizable faces in Ghana’s movie scene during the 2000s.

During a conversation with blogger Zionfelix on the Uncut Show, the actor disclosed that he quit acting in 2006 after about a decade in the industry simply because it was not giving him the kind of financial returns he had hoped for.

According to him, although he was passionate about acting and had featured in several popular films, he was struggling financially behind the scenes.

Daniel Adeleye explained that it was his then-partner, who is now his ex-wife who first suggested he abandon the struggling career and join her abroad.

With the situation already discouraging, he said he didn’t think twice about it and followed her to the UK.

He however added that after his relocation to the UK, he realized that it wasn’t all rosy.

The talented actor admitted that while things were exciting initially, the relationship took a sour turn. The lady, whom he had trusted and made sacrifices for, began to treat him unfairly, leaving him heartbroken and disappointed.

Before his sudden exit from the limelight, Daniel Adeleye had carved a name for himself in the Ghanaian movie industry alongside celebrated stars like Nana Ama McBrown, Michael Afranie, Asare Bediako, Agya Koo, and others.

He had appeared in several notable films, including Dabi Dabi, Okomfo Anokye, Apam, The Pastor’s Wife, and My Mother’s Heart.

His performances earned him the love of many fans across the country.
