American-Ghanaian rapper, Victor Kwesi Mensa, known professionally as Vic Mensa, has recently been spotted pounding fufu in his hometown, Koforidua in the Eastern region.

In a video posted on his Instagram page on January 8, 2025, Vic, who was recently in the country for the Christmas festivities, shared the moment where a woman was guiding him on how to pound the Ghanaian staple food, showcasing his deep connection to his roots.

The sight of engaging in this traditional activity was truly humbling and inspiring for many of his followers.

Not wanting to experience it alone, Vic was accompanied by a lady, who was also seen trying her hand at turning the fufu.

In a playful moment, the woman guiding Vic Mensa on how to pound fufu joked with the lady who accompanied him, saying, “Doing this with your long hair, if you were living in Ghana, I would have cut all that hair.”

Vic Mensa’s connection to Ghana has been showcased by him at every opportunity, as he frequently promotes the country’s culture and music on the global stage.

He has also been involved in various projects, including collaborations with Ghanaian artistes such as Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, and others.

Fufu, a staple food in Ghana, is predominantly enjoyed by the Akan people. It is made by boiling and pounding cassava or yams, often mixed with plantain.
