In a complete shutout at the ProBox main event in Fort Lauderdale, Argentine Olympian Francisco Daniel Veron won By scores of 100-89 across the board over Colombia’s Roiman Villa in a super welterweight contest.

Veron controlled every aspect of the bout, dropping Villa with roughly 20 seconds left in the ninth round, but the gritty Villa was able to survive and see the end of the 10 rounder. Veron improves to 16-1-1, 20 KOs, while Villa falls to 27-4, 25 KOs.

Two-time Mongolian Olympian Tsenbataar Erdenebat had his hands about his full as one could in a lightweight bout, whose scores belied the competitiveness displayed over 10 rounds. Despite throwing over 350 more punches, Montoya landed over 40 less than Erdenebat, perhaps accounting for scores of 96-94 and 99-91 twice, all for Edenebat, who improves to 14-0, 6 KOs. The tough as nails. Montoya falls to 23-7-1, 14 KOs.

In a very tactical and closely contested light heavyweight battle, Dante Benjamin took on Money Powell IV over eight nip and tuck rounds. There was counter punching galore in this one and extremely close in the punch stats, with little to separate the two. The judges saw it 77-75 twice and 79-73 for Benjamin who improves to 13-0-1, 9 KOs. Powell falls to 13-3, 8 KOs.

Featherweight prospect Francois Scarboro Jr. landed a crushing overhand right high on the temple of Onyx Sanchez-Medina in the first round, dropping him violently. Sanchez-Medina beat the count but referee Tyrone Parker Jr. wasn’t satisfied with Sanchez-Medina’s lack of response to his instructions to step to his left, waving it off at 2:00 of the opening round. Scarboro Jr. improves to 12-0, 9 KOs. Sanchez-Medina loses his first at 8-1-1, 8 KOs.

Super welterweight K.J. Waialae used a sustained body attack to beat the fight out of Rashad Bowens, prompting referee Samuel Burgos to halt the action at 2:02 of round 3. Waialae improves to 3-0, 2 KOs while Bowens falls to 1-2, 1 KO.
