Team USA Olympic gold medal winner Matthew Tkachuk has shared the heartwarming news that he and his wife, Ellie, are expecting their first child together.
The hockey superstar, 28, dropped the bombshell during an appearance on the second episode of FOX News Media’s ‘Hang Out with Sean Hannity’ podcast.
Tkachuk, who helped lead Team USA to glory, confirmed the pregnancy just months after the couple tied the knot in a stunning ceremony last summer.
The Florida Panthers forward revealed that while the excitement is building, the pair have made a joint decision to keep one major detail a secret.
Despite the ‘mounting curiosity’ from fans and family alike, the NHL star admitted they are not planning to find out the sex of the baby before the birth.
‘We aren’t finding out. We’re going old-school approach,’ Tkachuk told Hannity, though he confessed he wasn’t entirely sold on the idea at first.

‘I wasn’t too fond of it, I will say, because it’s right there. All we have to do is look,’ the Olympian joked about the temptation of modern scans.
The couple, who dated for five years before marrying, are clearly relishing the milestone, with Tkachuk already dreaming of a future on the ice for his child.
‘I mean, at some point, would definitely have to have a boy,’ he admitted, noting that his wife only has a sister and no brothers to show her the ropes.
The star has already begun describing the unique world of youth hockey to his wife, admitting he is looking forward to the ‘little things’ the most.
‘I think I’m more excited for youth hockey one day than my current hockey right now,’ he told a stunned Hannity during the sit-down interview.
‘Like, honest to God, like, I can’t wait for the road trips. I can’t wait for, like, the — the family to come,’ he added, envisioning the future.
‘I can’t wait for the parents to be in the hotel lobby bar at night talking about the day,’ he continued, painting a picture of the hockey-dad lifestyle.
When asked how soon he’ll be getting the little one on the rink, Tkachuk replied: ‘The second he can at least stand up, I’m going to carry him around the ice.’

While Tkachuk’s wife was present for the recording, she opted to stay off-camera, with her husband noting she ‘roots me on’ from the sidelines.
‘She said she would stumble on her words,’ Tkachuk laughed, explaining why she declined Hannity’s invitation to join the duo for a few minutes.
The full interview is set to drop on Thursday, March 12th, providing fans with an intimate look at the life of one of America’s premier winter athletes.
As the Tkachuk family prepares for their new arrival, the hockey world is already celebrating the potential arrival of another superstar.
