The Proprietress of New Vision Montessori School at Oduman in the Ga West Municipality, Mrs Vera Ohui Ankrah, has urged students to combine academic excellence with integrity and discipline to enable them to become responsible leaders and contribute meaningfully to national development.
She said education should not be measured solely by academic performance but also by the character, values and conduct of learners.
Addressing the school’s 2026 graduation ceremony, on the themed: ‘Rooted in Conscience, Rising in Character,’ Mrs Ankrah explained that a truly educated person was one who demonstrated integrity, respected others and exhibited good moral values in everyday life.
“Our foundation motto, On Christ We Stand, In Character, We Rise,’’ was a reminder that true education extended far beyond textbooks.
“It is reflected in how we conduct ourselves, protect our integrity and relate to other people,” Mrs Ankrah stated.
The Proprietress noted that New Vision Montessori School was committed to nurturing learners who were rooted in conscience, self-discipline, empathy and accountability, adding that academic excellence without strong character was incomplete.
She said the school’s approach to education focused on developing children with critical thinking skills, ethical values and a global perspective to enable them to make positive decisions contributions to society.
According to her, sustaining excellence required teamwork among management, teaching and non-teaching staff, students and parents, all working within established systems and procedures to ensure an effective learning environment.
She said such collaboration had helped create a safe, organised and nurturing atmosphere that promoted quality teaching and learning.
Mrs Ankrah expressed appreciation to parents and guardians for their unwavering support and sacrifices, particularly their financial commitment towards their children’s education.
“Many parents continue to invest in their children’s future, not because they have in abundance, but because they desire the very best for them. We are grateful for your trust and partnership,” she emphasised.
She also commended members of staff for their dedication and professionalism in shaping the lives of the learners.
