Dele Alli plays for FC Como Dele Alli plays for FC Como

The decision of FC Como manager, Cesc Fabregas, to leave out Dele Alli from his squad in the upcoming season has triggered another conversation online about how the English midfielder has failed to live up to expectations.

For many football fans, Dele Alli’s recent failure to make the Como squad vindicates former manager, Jose Mounrinho who had stated that his attitude will derail his career despite his huge potential.

His career took off in 2015 when he was a star at Tottenham and a promising player for the English national team.

He was once valued at 100 million euros but the shadows of his past; a difficult youth and addictions have ultimately led him to lose his place in football scene.

Dele Alli’s move to Italy after struggling to get play time in the Turkish league at Besiktas, a move which was supposed to help get him back his form but he struggled as he made only one appearance in the Serie A which lasted less than 10 minutes because he was sent off after receiving a red card.

He is now training away from the Como first-team squad after head coach Fabregas told him that he is not part of his plans ahead of the new season.

Dele signed an 18-month contract with Como but it has been reported that he is considering retirement at the age of 29 because of his struggles thus fueling the conversation online that Jose Mourinho was right about him.

But what did Jose Mourinho say about Dele Alli when he was the manager of Tottenham Hotspurs?

Jose Mourinho in 2019 advised Dele in his office, demanding that he does more for himself, else he would regret it later in life.

“Time flies, and I believe you’ll regret it someday if you don’t reach the potential you can reach. You should demand more from yourself. Not me, not someone else. Do it for yourself or you will regret it,” Jose said.
