Artiste manager and gospel music promoter, Kwesi Ernest, has called on musicians to come together and create a unified event calendar to help prevent scheduling conflicts in the industry.

Speaking on Onua Showtime, he explained that several gospel events are mostly held on the same day, making it difficult for both patrons and supporting artistes to attend multiple shows.

Citing an example, he said that on the day Piesie Esther hosted her “Flora Made by Grace concert,” other gospel musicians, including the organisers of the Women in Gospel event, also held major programmes, which created a clash.

According to him, this situation makes commuting between events difficult and affects attendance and revenues for artistes.

He suggested that gospel musicians should collaborate and coordinate their event dates to ensure maximum support and participation.

“Let’s have a planned event calendar to prevent scheduling conflicts. The day Piesie Esther hosted her event, others were also hosting theirs, so people had to drive from one place to another. If we all agree to support one person this week and another the following week, the patronage will be higher. Otherwise, the artistes will keep losing out on money,” Kwesi Ernest said.

However, gospel promoter Nii Nii disagreed with Kwesi Ernest’s proposal, arguing that the space is open to everyone.

He added that Sundays, in particular, are already filled with church activities, and as such, the suggestion of a shared calendar may not be practical.

“Let’s not think the space belongs to one person. There are many people living in Accra. On Sundays, ICGC gets its numbers, and Pentecost gets theirs. So, what I’m saying is, it won’t hold water,” he stated.
