Ilyas Ansah was born to Ghanaian parents in Germany

Union Berlin striker, Ilyas Ansah has confirmed that he has turned down the opportunity to join the Black Stars for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States of America, Canada and Mexico.

According to the 21-year-old striker, he wants to continue his international development with the Germany U-21 team and is not prepared to make a switch at this stage.

In an interview with Tribuna.com, Ilyas Ansah, whose parents are both Ghanaian, stated that he will not be representing Ghana national football team at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

“I’ve decided to soak up everything I’m currently experiencing at Union and continue playing for the German U21 team.”

“After the U21 European Championship, I’ll look into it next year and make a decision. As things stand, I won’t be going to the World Cup with Ghana,” Ansah explained as quoted by tribuna.com.

Ilyas Ansah was reportedly being closely tracked by the Ghana Football Association and head coach Otto Addo as a potential addition to the Black Stars squad.
