The British High Commissioner to Ghana, Christian Rogg, paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, in Accra to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the tourism, culture, and creative arts sectors.

During the meeting, Rogg announced that His Royal Highness, the Duke of Edinburgh, will visit Ghana next week for a two-day cultural diplomacy tour.

The Duke is expected to engage in activities related to conservation, education, youth development, and the performing arts, including attending the King’s Birthday celebration and a theatre-focused event at the British residence.

Abla Dzifa Gomashie expressed appreciation for past collaborations with the UK government and the British Council, particularly in supporting creatives and female parliamentarians.

She reiterated her priority of capacity building for industry players, stressing that Ghana’s creative sector requires stronger business training to meet global standards.

The discussion also covered the UK-Ghana diaspora engagement agenda, the “London to Accra” campaign, and plans for the upcoming January 6, 2026 Diaspora Summit. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cultural and economic ties and exploring investment opportunities, especially in event infrastructure, heritage conservation, and creative arts development.

In attendance at the meeting were the Chief Director, Joseph Kwasi Amoah; Divine Kwame Owusu-Ansah, Director for Culture and Creative Arts; and Dr Richardson Commey Fio, personal aide to the sector minister.
