Utah prosecutors revealed a new confession allegedly made by Charlie Kirk‘s suspected assassin Tyler Robinson as they urged a judge to send his case to trial.

The never-before-seen admission was allegedly made by Robinson in a group chat on communication app Discord after Kirk was killed at Utah Valley University in September 2025, according to a court filing.

Robinson, 23, allegedly wrote: ‘It was me. Look at the pictures from the surveillance footage. It was me. I’m serious.’

The message was included by prosecutors in a ‘bindover’ filing put forward to Utah District Court on July 28 in which they argue Robinson should stand trial for capital murder.

A bindover is a judge’s decision to send a criminal case forward to trial. Prosecutors claimed their case is ‘likely as straight-forward a bindover decision as this Court will ever see.’

The latest message followed a previously reported alleged confession by Robinson in the group chat, where he wrote: ‘Hey guys, I have bad news for you all. it was me at UVU yesterday. I’m sorry for all of this. I’m surrendering through a sheriff friend in a few moments,’ per the filing.

Prosecutors say Robinson has made 11 confessions since Kirk was killed, including other previously reported confessions to his parents and roommate.

‘DNA testing, surveillance video, and eyewitness testimony buttress those elements and demonstrate probable cause to support the remaining elements,’ the bindover filing states. ‘The court should bind Defendant for trial on all counts.’

Robinson’s defense has sought to undermine the DNA evidence, as well as question the reliability of testing conducted on a bullet fragment recovered from Kirk’s body.

Utah District Judge Tony Graf has said he will wait until September to make a decision on whether to send Robinson’s case to trial following a series of pre-trial hearings earlier this month.

His decision led Kirk’s widow Erika to urge the judge to come to a speedy decision, ‘based on the overwhelming evidence presented’ by prosecutors.

Prosecutors noted that Graf’s decision to send Robinson to trial rests on a lower burden of proof than they will need to meet in front of a jury, but said the ‘evidence further demonstrates a reasonable belief that Defendant was the shooter.’

The lengthy document covers mountains of alleged evidence against the suspect, including surveillance images, DNA found on a towel wrapped around the murder weapon, and Robinson’s alleged confessions.

At the conclusion of Robinson’s pre-trial hearings, Chief Deputy Utah County Attorney General Chad Grunander told the judge: ‘Your Honor’s heard four days of testimony now. The evidence is overwhelming. It’s devastating.’

At his pre-trial hearings, prosecutors also presented a police interview given by Robinson’s former roommate and lover, Lance Twiggs, months after Kirk was assassinated.

In the interview played in court, Twiggs told investigators that Robinson confessed to him in the aftermath of the shooting and admitted he ‘wished he hadn’t done it.’

At pre-trial hearings earlier in July, prosecutors previously produced a trove of evidence that they say implicates Robinson in the assassination, including his DNA found on a dark towel wrapped around the murder weapon (pictured) that was dumped near the shooting scene

Twiggs also said in his video testimony that Robinson left him a handwritten note on the day Kirk was assassinated, which read: ‘I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I’m going to take it.’

The alleged confession note was presented alongside text messages that prosecutors say Robinson sent on the day Kirk was shot, in which he also allegedly admitted to the crime.

In the texts shown in court, Twiggs told Robinson he did not believe the confession note, writing: ‘You’re joking right? You weren’t the one who did it right?’

Robinson allegedly replied: ‘I am, I’m sorry.’

He then allegedly discussed trying to hide the evidence, writing that he ‘planned to grab my rifle’ from a ‘drop point’ near to the shooting scene.

‘If I am able to grab my rifle unseen, I will have left no evidence,’ he wrote, per the texts.

‘Going to attempt to retrieve it again, hopefully they have moved on. I haven’t seen anything in the news about them finding it. Will update you by midnight.’

Twiggs then asked Robinson how long he had been planning the shooting, to which he replied: ‘A bit over a week, I believe.’

Prosecutors also produced bullets that they said were engraved with political messages in the rifle, with one (above) reading: 'Hey Fascist! CATCH!'

Prosecutors also alleged that Robinson confessed to his parents and then issued another confession in a chat room on the gaming platform Discord.

Authorities said Twiggs quickly cooperated with investigators and offered his DNA for testing, and this week prosecutors said both Twiggs’ and Robinson’s DNA were found on a towel wrapped around the murder weapon.

Alongside Robinson’s alleged confessions, DNA evidence cited in the prosecutors’ latest filing cites testimony given by a number of investigators at Robinson’s previous hearings.

This includes ATF forensic biologist Caitlin Oliver, who previously told the court that DNA found on the towel is ‘at least one trillion times more likely to have come from Tyler Robinson’ than anyone else.
