Premier League clubs are monitoring Bristol Rovers whiz kid Kofi Shaw.

The 18-year-old midfielder is impressing scouts across the country with his technical ability and athleticism in his breakout season with Rovers.

The teenager initially went out on loan before Christmas to Yeovil Town as a 17-year-old where he massively impressed and scored two goals in the process.

He has continued that form after being brought back before his loan was due to finish by manager Inigo Calderon.

That seems to have been an astute decision because the starlet has made a big contribution.

So much so that Brighton, Bournemouth and Burnley from the Championship, among others, are watching his development closely.

Calderon has been keen to play down Shaw’s rise to prominence saying he wanted to protect Rovers’ prospect. Calderon said: ‘I don’t want to give too much credit to Kofi because I want to protect him. We cannot rush things and we have to make sure he enjoys his football.

‘But he showed he is a clever player, the penalty was down to his quick thinking and I was hoping if the ball was going to drop to anyone it would be him.

‘Physically he is not the strongest player in the world, but he is one of those players who make up for not being the strongest by being quicker mentally and then he has quality on the ball.’

Shaw has made 10 appearances for Rovers since returning from his loan spell at Yeovil in February, including seven starts.

Upon calling him back from his loan, Calderon revealed that he was a big fan of Shaw and promised he would ‘have his minutes’.

At Rovers, Shaw has played 584 minutes and has earned playing time in their seven games.

Last October, Shaw signed a contract with Rovers that keeps him at the club until June 2027.
