Richard Asamoah and Linda Ofori, both college students, were killed in a horrific road accident on the Sunyani-Kintampo route while on their way to gather tuition money. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, causing grief among the Sunyani community.

According to reports from the scene, the victims were on board a commercial minibus when the driver lost control while attempting to overtake another vehicle at high speed and collided head on with a truck traveling from the opposite direction. The impact killed two students and injured several more. Eyewitness Kwame Owusu described the incident with dread, emphasizing the minibus’s irresponsible pace.

Emergency personnel responded quickly, transporting the injured victims to Sunyani Regional Hospital and the bodies of Richard and Linda to the morgue. District Police Commander DSP Emmanuel Osei confirmed the crash’s facts, stating that preliminary investigations pointed to reckless overtaking and overspeeding as the primary causes.

Richard and Linda’s deaths have cast a pall over their college, which has both staff and students in sorrow. Heartfelt comments and condolences have flooded in, and the families’ grief is exceptionally intense. Linda’s brother, Michael, expressed the family’s profound sorrow, calling the loss terrible. The town is still reeling from the catastrophe, mourning the unexpected deaths of two young students with promising futures.
