Two babies have been shot in a shooting rampage after a gunman allegedly killed his parents while wounding four others.

Local authorities said the shooting was reported at 11pm local time on Monday in the small town of El Ejido, near Almería, Spain.

Four others, including two children, were seriously injured and have been taken to the hospital.

One is believed to be the suspect’s seven-month-old son, according to local media reports.

It has also been reported that the second child is an 18-month-old baby, while a 60-year-old man is also believed to be among those injured in the shooting.

A 25-year-old man has since been arrested.

He was briefly on the run before handing himself in at a local police station, according to Europa Press.

The identities of the suspect and the victims have not yet been officially released by Spanish authorities.

Guardia Civil said it is now investigating the attack and attempting to establish a possible motive for the shooting.
