Donald Trump has issued a nasty rebuke to a CNN journalist, describing her as ‘one of the worst reporters you’ll ever see’ in a public dressing down.

Trump called on CNN Senior White House Correspondent Kristen Holmes during an ‘Antifa roundtable’ he held in the State Dining Room on Wednesday, before promptly changing his mind.

While her question was hard to hear over the chatter, she appeared to be referring to a potential ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas when Trump interrupted.

‘This is CNN speaking, by the way,’ he said to the crowd gathered.

‘So, you know, this is one of the worst reporters that you’ll ever see. I don’t even want to take her question. It’s a waste of time.’

He then moved on to a new question, from a new reporter.

The brutal sledge is the latest in a host of digs Trump has taken at reporters from liberal news stations since returning to power.

CNN, ABC and NBC reporters have become accustomed to being the butt of the joke during press conferences as Trump wages war on ‘woke’ media outlets who have wronged him with multimillion dollar lawsuits.

Trump was speaking with reporters and influencers about Antifa – a left-wing anti-fascist movement the administration recently designated as a terrorist group.

But midway through the meeting he was interrupted by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who handed him an urgent note about the ongoing peace negotiations between Hamas and Israel.

‘I was just given a note by the Secretary of State saying that we’re very close to a deal in the Middle East, and they’re going to need me pretty quickly,’ Trump told reporters gathered at the roundtable on Wednesday.

The frantically scrawled note was caught on camera. It read: ‘Very close. We need you to approve a post on Truth Social soon, so you can announce the deal first.’

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt later confirmed that Trump ‘is considering heading to the Middle East’ as soon as Friday.

At 6.51pm EST, Trump greenlit the Truth Social post, which read: ‘I am very proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have both signed off on the first Phase of our Peace Plan

‘This means that ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their Troops to an agreed upon line as the first steps toward a Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace.’

Trump vowed that ‘all parties will be treated fairly’, describing the deal as ‘a GREAT Day for the Arab and Muslim World, Israel, all surrounding Nations, and the United States of America.

‘We thank the mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, who worked with us to make this Historic and Unprecedented Event happen. BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS!’
