President Donald Trump is trying to lure an $8billion infrastructure project back to the United States with promises they can begin ‘almost’ right away after former president Joe Biden killed the deal.

Trump intends to revive the long-dead Keystone XL pipeline, which would travel between Canada and Virginia carrying upwards of 830,000 barrels per day of oil into the United States.

Taking to TruthSocial on Monday night, the president said the pipeline ‘that was viciously jettisoned by the incompetent Biden Administration should come back to America.’

‘Get it built – NOW,’ he added.

‘I know they were treated very badly by Sleepy Joe Biden, but the Trump Administration is very different.’

Trump noted that the nation is doing ‘really well’ under his new administration, and that he just thought up the idea to bring the pipeline back ‘today.’

Sources had previously revealed that Trump wanted to revive the project on his first day back in the White House for his second term.

Trump has now publicly assured any company willing to take on the project that they will receive ‘easy approvals’ and can lock in an ‘almost immediate start.’

‘If not them, perhaps another Pipeline Company. We want the Keystone XL Pipeline built!’

The pipeline was opposed for years by environmentalists before its permit was ultimately revoked by the Biden administration.

Critics said the pipeline would hamper the US transition to cleaner fuels, but Trump has repeatedly made clear that he has no plans to phase out the use of oil.

Biden had committed to canceling the project during his 2020 campaign and revoked the permit soon after taking office in 2021.

The Canadian energy infrastructure company behind the pipeline, TC Energy, officially abandoned the project in 2021 and it is unclear if it would be willing to pivot even with Trump’s express permission.

Trump campaigned on a ‘drill baby, drill’ slogan and has pledged to throw out all of Biden’s green energy policies on Day One

Speaking to Fox on Monday, Trump’s press secretary Karoline Leavitt said: ‘He is inviting them back.

‘We want the Keystone XL pipieline built. He wants the pipeline built in the northeast in New England where I’m from, where we have some of the highest electricity and utility bills in the country.

‘This is a president who is constantly thinking about how he can help the American people.’

Critics swiftly pointed out that getting the pipeline built would require collaboration with Canada.

Trump has sparked the ire of Canadian officials, particularly outgoing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, for repeatedly suggesting the nation should become the 51st state of America.

He has also threatened to impose tariffs on Canada to get the nation to fall into line.

‘Thought Canada didn’t have anything you wanted?’ one critic said.

‘A pipeline for the oil he doesn’t want to import?’ another added. ‘For what purpose? Canada’s tariffs are going to increase the price anyway.’

But MAGA supporters are instead arguing the pipeline, if it were to go ahead, would inject thousands of jobs back into the US economy.
