President Donald Trump called for jailing the Illinois governor and Chicago mayor Wednesday as 500 National Guard troops surge into the Democratic city.

‘Chicago Mayor should be in jail for failing to protect ICE Officers!’ Trump wrote to his followers, referring Brandon Johnson. ‘Governor Pritzker also!’

Trump’s inflammatory call came in a Truth Social post on Wednesday morning after Pritzker claimed the president is deploying troops to Chicago because he is suffering from ‘dementia.’

‘This is a man who’s suffering dementia,’ Pritzker told the Chicago Tribune on Tuesday. ‘This is a man who has something stuck in his head. He can’t get it out of his head.’

Previously, Illinois and the city of Chicago launched a lawsuit against the administration to block from sending armed National Guard troops to city.

Over the weekend, the Pentagon federalized approximately 300 Illinois National Guard members despite Pritzker’s objection.

‘He doesn’t read. He doesn’t know anything that’s up to date. It’s just something in the recesses of his brain that is effectuating to have him call out these cities,’ Pritzker added.

‘And then, unfortunately, he has the power of the military, the power of the federal government to do his bidding, and that’s what he’s doing.’

For over a month, Trump has sought to send the National Guard into Chicago to enforce a crime crackdown

On Tuesday, Pritzker claimed that Trump wants to deploy troops to Chicago because the president is suffering from ‘dementia’

Moreover, Trump ordered 400 federalized National Guard troops from Texas to enter Chicago, along with Portland, Oregon.

In recent weeks, Trump’s Department of Homeland Security has deployed across Chicago to ramp up their mass deportation effort against illegal migrants.

‘Operation Midway Blitz’ was launched by DHS in early September to expand their deportation operation in the windy city. For over a month, ICE officials have faced daily clashes with protesters at their detention facilities.

Trump has claimed federal troops are needed to protect ICE agents and DHS officials overseeing his administration’s deportation operation.

Later this week, a federal Judge in Chicago will hold a hearing regarding the lawsuit launched by city and state leader to block Trump’s deployments.

The judge refused to sign a temporary restraining order in to block the administration from deploying troops until the legal case concludes in court.

‘We’re not going to go to war between the state of Illinois and the federal government, not taking up arms against the federal government,’ Pritzker told reporters.

‘But we are monitoring everything they’re doing, and using that monitoring to win in court.’

Trump’s Democratic critics have longed fear the president would use his power in the White House to prosecute his political enemies.

Previously, Trump had demanded the Department of Justice prosecute former FBI Director James and New York Attorney General Letitia James.

Days after Trump issued his legal threats against Comey, the DOJ indicted him for allegedly lying to Congress. Comey is expected to be arraigned in court later on Wednesday.
